Doing so saves a huge amount of water. Flushing a toilet, even one with a ‘mini flush’, wastes water. If the powers that be were genuinely interested in reducing water consumption, waterless urinals would be required in all new construction with major incentives when a building is remodelled.
There was a study done in the UK on a ‘typical’ office building. Water usage by urinals was measured. What would be saved by switching to waterless urinals far outweighed that saved by high efficiency washers, shower heads, dishwashers, etc.
I do aim for the drain, in deference to sanitation…

… also, I assume I am like many (most?) human males having the need to pee triggered by the sound of running water.

Everyone pees in the shower at one time or another. Including women.
