  1. I see the same mindset I see nearly every time men’s mental health comes up. In the Stigma and Pressure paragraphs everything is framed generated by the man. No!
Far more often than not the man is told directly and unambiguously that he is subpar in some way or other. Whatever changes then occur in the man’s emotional state are a direct result of the external stimuli. Those stimuli exist completely separately from and independently of the man. Therefore, said stimuli cannot be addressed by talking to the man.

I’ve noticed this for years in multiple fields. There’s a very low-key, entrenched resistance to acknowledgement of external factors, stimuli, etc. that have no actual connection to the client/patient/whomever.

It’s not limited to mental health. I have several visible aboomalities to my skeleton. They’ve been CAT scanned, MRI’d, and x-rayed innumerable times. The results have been measured, tabulated, analysed, written up, and documented sixteen ways to Sunday. Yet there are still people who insist it’s all in my mind.

Wtat’s worse is that I’ve found this kind of reality denial is not all that rare. I once did some work for a LMHC who worked with people dx’d with multiple physical issues. She told me that about 30% of her patients have someone in their lives telling them, “I understand you feel that way” about objectively measurable issues that were dx’d years ago.
